How to Have a Blacklight Party

How to Have a Blacklight Party

1. Decorations

At first I planned for a night party so it would be good and dark and things would glow very well, but I couldn't outline out how to decorate the walls without damaging them. Laundry soap looks de facto cool and I figured my walls needed to be cleaned anyway's. The kids de facto wanted to help, so meandering straight through a party store I saw a black tablecloth, and I thought, "What if I tacked up black plastic to all the walls?" Black table cloths at the Dollar Tree are only a dollar, but what I found was black painter's tarp in the painting section of Walmart. An roll covered half my living room. I moved the couches to someone else room, making a sitting room for the grown-ups who didn't like the blacklight (unlike me, 'cause I'm just cool that way). I Hung the black tarp, and I cut the excess off the lowest and hung the strips over the opening. Two cans of neon paint (again, the yellow worked best) and I painted in big words "Happy Birthday!" It worked great! The kids were able to get into the painting and with Blacklight, lively and crazy is best. Some laundry soap and my living room smelled "Spring Fresh". I hung the tarp in front of the Tv and put in big letters "Tv" to hopefully keep it safe, but we wound up playing video games anyway's. For less than I had decorated the whole living room.

We decorated ourselves with colored hairsprays. They have one made just for blacklights. We also colored ourselves with yellow highlighter. They sell neon nail polishes that would have been cool and for you who are real daring, use laundry soap to make yourself glow blue.

2. Drinks

Tonic Water: Yes it glows, but it tastes like Bc Powder. I tried the jello and mixing it into lemonade, but even at 1.5 cups into 8 cups of lemonade, it tasted like aspirin. Unless you plan on leaving it in the bottle for decorations, or you like the taste of Bc Powder, don't even bother wasting your money. Fyi, Tonic Water was industrialized as a treatment for the stoppage of Malaria and other diseases and was used by British Soldiers.

Glow Water: Cut open a non-toxic highlighter and soak the felt in some water. Yellow glows the best, the other's don't glow so well. Put it in a glass photograph and it looks awesome and tastes like water. The kids unbelievable Koolaid or something, but I left it plain water.

I put a cooler and a small table in the living room. I painted some orange Neon paint on the cooler so it wouldn't get tripped over and put the pitchers of glow water on the table. The snacks were kept in the sitting room because the living room de facto isn't big enough for rough-housing (or dancing) and the tables.

More Ideas

1. A Dance: My former plans included dancing, but I never got the radio setup. The boys mostly wanted to play games and ran from room to room playing their handheld's, Nintendo, or Xbox Next years theme is a video game party!

2. A Disco Ball: So this would be pretty cool, but they are expensive. You can buy them at Spencer's.

3. Laser lights: Again, you can find these at Spencer's and some are pretty affordable, depending on your funds and if you plan on using them more than once.

4. Foggers: I would have loved to use foggers at our party, but they are quite expensive, and space was limited. You could probably rent one at a party provide store if you de facto want one. Spencer's had a large range of party items, but I don't propose bringing the kids because it is right next to the "sex toys."

One last thing

Remember, safety is an issue here. I ran into the living to get the camera and when I ran out I smashed into the wall! Be sure to use the neon paint on each wall so everybody knows where the walls all, and it's probably a good idea to outline the exits Write warnings about delicate equipment if you are keeping it in the room and put paint on anything that doesn't glow so no-one falls over it. Cover it in plastic, or use neon tape so you don't damage the furniture. Also, plan on leaving the doors and windows open when you paint, and if anything is pregnant, don't let them in until the fumes have dissipated.
